Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Luke 12:6
If the everyday were a colour what would it be?
Grey is too emotive. A bright colour may suggest spin. Brown perhaps? LBJs is birdwatcher speak for Little Brown Jobs: the dowdy, the unremarkable birds such as the sparrow. Until that is, the sparrow is looked at more closely, appreciated for what it is, rather than what it is not. There is plenty in the day, in routine, the daily round that is an LBJ. There’s a sparrow that sings each morning from the small amount of greenery outside our busy main road flat. She reminds me that all LBJs have a song, that there is a prayer embedded within each and every daily thing.
It doesn't have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention. (Prayer, Mary Oliver)
