What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.   James 4

The battle of desires

At a national level this makes sense of current and past wars.  At a more local and at a personal level I am led to ponder the following entreaties:

Be aware of what you wish for.

Beware of what you desire, of what you don't have.

You desire but do not have, so you kill.
