Doing the right thing
In his delicious short novels GK Chesterton champions not only paradox but doing the right thing. Repeating the Spirit of Jesus, his main characters do the most extravagant, surprising and fitting things undeterred by defensive conventions. I wonder if not saying the wrong thing is of greater importance to me than doing the right thing?
Actions that speak louder than words*
The Pharisees circle Jesus, desiring to ensnare him with his own ill chosen words. Jesus does not play the words game, undimmed he underlines the value and significance of actions. Is a primary response to Jesus honouring him by mimicing him? As I listen to this line* and this response within me what desire or challenge is stirred within me? Is there a prayer or action that emerges?
